Dental Assistant and Front Desk Assistant
I love learning about each patient’s life. I find I learn a lot from our exchanges, and in the process, we develop strong relationships. Seeing people come back for their visits allows us to renew and strengthen those bonds. I assist the doctor as he cares for patients. I make sure he has everything he needs, while also seeing that our patient is comfortable. I spend a lot of time talking with patients about dental health, how it affects their body, and why Dr. Dicus recommends certain treatments.
I’m a caregiver, here at the office and at home. From babies in the nursery at my church to my 83-year-old father, I have a wide range of experience in caring for people’s unique needs.
Registered Dental Hygienist
I’ve been working for Dr. Dicus for more than 4 ½ years. I have been in the dental field since 1988: first as a dental assistant, then an office manager, and I graduated from Truckee Meadows Community College in dental hygiene in 2003.
I love seeing huge improvements in my patients’ oral health and hygiene. My goal is always a healthy, happy, and beautiful smile. As I clean a person’s teeth, assess oral health, and screen for oral cancer, I talk about dental hygiene. I talk about proper home care, healthy nutrition, and developing good habits. Being a hygienist allows me to become close with my patients and that is one of the joys of my job.
I’ve been married for more than 20 years and have two amazing sons. Raised in the Reno area, I enjoy camping, travel, and decorating and design.
Registered Dental Hygienist
I love making friends with my patients while making a difference in their oral and overall health. I spend a lot of my day educating patients about their unique dental health and how to improve and maintain it. Each person has different concerns, so we talk about products and processes, as well as dietary and lifestyle changes to make their teeth and gums healthier. In addition to patient education, I also perform hygiene and periodontal treatments. My day is made when a patient returns and his or her mouth and smile look wonderful.
I grew up in Fallon and have three children. My oldest daughter recently graduated college and is an amazing artist. My second daughter is learning to be a helicopter pilot. My son plays high-school basketball and enjoys going hunting with me.
I sit chairside with Dr. Dicus as he performs a variety of dental procedures, and see to it he has everything he needs, but focus mainly on our patient. I make sure the person is relaxed and comfortable, and keep him or her updated on the progress. I like helping our patients achieve dental health and well-being, and love getting to know each one on a personal level.
I was born and raised right here in Reno. My husband and I have two great kids, and we enjoy camping, travel, and baseball together as a family.
My goal is to make sure all our patients have a great experience in our office. One of the highlights of my job is interacting with and establishing friendships with our patients and their families. I love the personal connections I make on a daily basis. Dr. Dicus and our team make coming to work every day a lot of fun! We work so well together and truly enjoy each other’s company.
At home, I have two children, Scott and Kylie. Some of our favorite activities to do as a family are skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and camping and being at the lake in the summer. Spending time with my kids, friends, and family is the most important thing in the world.
